Target intelligence / Profile preview

Interleukin-31 receptor (IL-31R)

Target
IL-31R
Molecular classification
Type I cytokine receptor, Receptor, Heterodimeric receptor
01

Overview

The interleukin-31 receptor (IL-31R) is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor complex composed of IL-31RA and OSMRβ. It is the functional signaling unit for interleukin 31 (IL-31). Upon IL-31 binding, the JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK pathways are activated, mediating various cellular responses including inflammation and pruritus. The receptor is expressed on epithelial cells, sensory neurons, and immune cells, and is implicated in atopic dermatitis, other chronic skin diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, airway hypersensitivity disorders, and cancer.
