Interleukin-31 receptor α subunit

Molecular classification
Type I cytokine receptor, gp130/IL-6 receptor family, Receptor
01

Overview

The IL-31 receptor α subunit (IL-31RA) is a type I cytokine receptor and a member of the gp130/IL-6 receptor family. It forms a heterodimeric complex with the oncostatin M receptor β subunit (OSMRβ) to mediate signaling in response to interleukin 31 (IL-31). It is involved in pruritus and inflammatory skin disorders.

Mechanism of action

IL-31RA forms a heterodimeric receptor with OSMRβ, and drugs targeting IL-31RA block IL-31 signaling, inhibiting downstream pathways like JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK, reducing inflammation and itch.
