Interleukin-31 receptor A (IL-31RA) is a protein that forms part of the heterodimeric receptor complex for interleukin-31 (IL-31), together with oncostatin M receptor β (OSMRβ). This receptor complex is essential for mediating the biological effects of IL-31, a cytokine primarily produced by activated CD4+ T cells. Upon binding of IL-31, the receptor activates JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK signaling pathways, resulting in transcriptional regulation affecting cell proliferation, differentiation, inflammation, pruritus transmission, and tissue remodeling. IL-31RA plays a crucial role in inflammatory diseases such as atopic dermatitis, prurigo nodularis, and airway hypersensitivity disorders.
