The Interleukin-31 receptor complex is a heterodimer composed of interleukin-31 receptor alpha (IL-31RA) and oncostatin M receptor beta (OSMRβ) subunits. It is a member of the type I cytokine receptor family, sharing structural similarities with gp130 but functioning independently of it. Upon binding interleukin-31, the receptor activates intracellular signal transduction cascades, including JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAP kinase pathways, leading to pro-inflammatory responses, pruritus, and tissue remodeling. The receptor complex is expressed on immune cells, epithelial cells, and neurons, and is implicated in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and other immunological and allergic conditions. Targeting the IL-31 receptor complex has become a promising therapeutic strategy for chronic itch and inflammatory diseases
