Interleukin-31 Receptor Subunit Alpha (IL-31RA)

Target
IL-31RA
Molecular classification
Type I cytokine receptor, Transmembrane glycoprotein
01

Overview

IL-31 receptor subunit alpha (IL-31RA) is a type I cytokine receptor that forms part of the functional receptor complex for interleukin 31 (IL-31). It is encoded by the *IL31RA* gene and is expressed on various cell types, including immune cells, keratinocytes, dorsal root ganglia neurons, and some epithelial cells. The functional IL-31 receptor is a heterodimer composed of IL-31RA and Oncostatin M receptor beta subunit (OSMRβ). Binding of IL-31 to this heterodimeric complex triggers downstream signaling events, including activation of JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK pathways. It plays a key role in mediating pruritus and regulating immune responses.
