Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin 6 receptor alpha (IL-6Rα) is a type I cytokine receptor that mediates the biological effects of interleukin 6 (IL-6). The functional receptor complex consists of IL-6Rα and the signal-transducing component gp130. IL-6Rα exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms, with the soluble form capable of activating cells that do not express the membrane-bound receptor. Dysregulation of IL-6Rα is implicated in various diseases, including autoimmune disorders and cancer, making it a therapeutic target.
Monoclonal antibody or small molecule antagonist that blocks IL-6 signaling by binding to IL-6Rα or its downstream signaling components.
