The Interleukin 7 receptor alpha chain (IL-7Rα), also known as CD127, is a type I cytokine receptor subunit that forms part of the functional interleukin-7 receptor complex and also serves as a component of the thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) receptor. It is essential for the normal development, survival, proliferation, and homeostasis of T cells and B cell progenitors. Upon ligand binding, it triggers downstream pathways critical for lymphocyte proliferation via PI3K/AKT signaling. Mutations in *IL7R* can lead to severe combined immunodeficiency.
