The Interleukin 9 Receptor (IL-9R) is a type I cytokine receptor composed of an alpha chain (IL-9Rα) and the common gamma chain (γc). It is the primary receptor for Interleukin 9 (IL-9), a pleiotropic cytokine involved in the regulation of immune responses, particularly in Th2, Th17, Treg, mast cells, NKT cells, and ILC2s. IL-9R activation triggers intracellular signaling pathways like JAK-STAT, MAP kinase, and PI3K, influencing cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Dysregulation of IL-9/IL-9R signaling has been implicated in diseases such as asthma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and melanoma.
