Intestinal lavage

Intestinal lavage is a medical procedure involving the flushing and removal of contents from the large intestine, commonly performed by administering large volumes of fluids such as water or specially formulated solutions via a tube inserted into the rectum. This procedure is primarily indicated for bowel preparation before procedures like colonoscopy, or for the cleansing of toxins in select cases of poisoning. It is not recognized as a molecular or therapeutic target but rather as a mechanical intervention on the digestive tract.
