Overview

Intracellular pathways" refers to the complex series of molecular events within cells responsible for transmitting, amplifying, and integrating biological signals received from the outside environment or from other intracellular compartments. These pathways typically involve cascades of protein phosphorylation (e.g., MAP kinase pathway), second messengers (such as calcium ions, cAMP, or inositol phosphates), and may result in the activation of transcription factors, altered gene expression, and diverse biological processes influencing cell fate. Intracellular pathways encompass, but are not limited to, MAP kinase cascades, phosphoinositide signaling, and calcium signaling. They are vital to normal cellular homeostasis and can be dysregulated in diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and neurodegeneration[1][4][7].
