Intracellular T1 relaxation enhancement refers to the process or effect by which the longitudinal (T1) relaxation time of protons within cells is shortened, typically as a result of interactions with specific agents or changes in the intracellular environment. In magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), this leads to increased signal intensity on T1-weighted images, enabling better visualization and characterization of tissues at a cellular level.
Shortens intrinsic cellular/protonic T1 times, increasing MRI signal through paramagnetic effects and altered energy transfer between nuclear spins and the surrounding lattice.
