PfACG1 is an intracellular trafficking protein found in *Plasmodium falciparum*. It is believed to play a key role in vesicular transport and lipid body association within the parasite. Recent studies have identified mutations in the gene encoding this protein among *P. falciparum* clones resistant to novel antimalarial compounds such as MMV688533, making it a potential antimalarial drug target. Localization studies show it resides adjacent to the digestive vacuole and partially associates with neutral lipid bodies.
Unknown, but mutations in PfACG1 confer resistance to MMV688533, suggesting involvement in compound action or resistance.
