Intraflagellar transport protein 70 homolog B (IFT70B) is a tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR)-containing protein that is a component of the IFT-B complex, part of the intraflagellar transport (IFT) system essential for assembly and maintenance of cilia in eukaryotic cells[2][1]. IFT-B proteins―including IFT70B―compose the backbone of anterograde IFT trains, which transport structural and signaling cargo along the axoneme toward the ciliary tip[2][3]. IFT70B, together with other IFT-B proteins such as IFT88 and IFT52, forms the structural core that interacts tightly and helps organize large protein cargos for delivery into the cilium[2]. Disruption of IFT70B or other subunits in the IFT-B complex results in defective ciliogenesis and is associated with a growing spectrum of human genetic diseases called ciliopathies[4][6]. No direct pharmacological targeting or drug interactions are known for IFT70B, and its primary importance lies in its fundamental scaffolding and transport role in the cilium biogenesis machinery.
