IQ domain-containing protein F5 (IQCF5) is a small protein belonging to the IQCF family, distinguished by one or more IQ motifs. These motifs enable calcium-independent binding to calmodulin and other EF-hand proteins. The IQCF5 gene is located on chromosome 3p21.2 and is expressed as a protein of 148 amino acids in humans. Although IQCF5 enables calmodulin-binding activity and is predicted to participate in calcium signaling regulation, there is currently no experimental evidence linking IQCF5 to a specific biological process, disease role, or therapeutic targeting. The IQ motif family broadly mediates protein-protein interactions, especially affecting cytoskeletal dynamics and calcium signaling, but the functions of IQCF5 itself remain largely uncharacterized beyond its predicted molecular interactions.
