Overview

IQ domain-containing protein N (IQCN) is a mitochondrial protein essential for spermatid development, spermiogenesis, and fertilization in humans[5][7]. It contains multiple IQ domains, which are motifs known to bind calmodulin, but the precise molecular function of IQCN remains unknown[2][4][6]. Mutations in IQCN are associated with spermatogenic failure 78, leading to male infertility[5][7]. IQCN is primarily expressed in testicular tissue and is required for proper manchette assembly during the elongation of spermatids[5][7]. There is currently no evidence linking IQCN to oncological or other common therapeutic target classes, and no drugs are known to directly interact with it.
