IQ motif and ankyrin repeat containing 1 (IQANK1), also annotated as FAM83H-AS1, is a gene associated with the production of a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) rather than a protein in humans[7][8]. This molecule has been linked to cancer biology, particularly in colorectal cancer, where it is described as a "Chemoresistance Associated CRC lncRNA" (CACClnc) and "onco-lncRNA-3," indicating a possible role in drug resistance mechanisms[8]. FAM83H-AS1 (an alias for IQANK1) has also been reported to negatively regulate microRNA-541-3p and WNT3A during the osteogenic differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells, suggesting broader involvement in cell fate and differentiation pathways[7]. Although the mouse ortholog (Iqank1) is listed as protein-coding[1][5], in humans it functions primarily as a non-coding RNA, and there is little to no evidence that it acts as a conventional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel. IQANK1 is mainly classified as a long non-coding RNA with cancer association, and current data do not directly link it to any approved drugs, known mechanisms of drug action, or established biomarker functions.
