Overview

IQCJ-SCHIP1 readthrough antisense RNA 1 (abbreviated as IQCJ-SCHIP1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as an antisense transcript located on chromosome 3. It does not encode a protein and functions primarily at the RNA level. Its expression is downregulated in colorectal cancer tissues and its reduced levels are associated with advanced tumor characteristics and poor prognosis. IQCJ-SCHIP1-AS1 appears to suppress tumor growth by regulating cell cycle, proliferation, and apoptosis pathways. While it is not a traditional drug target (receptor, enzyme, transporter), it may serve as a novel prognostic biomarker in cancer, particularly colorectal cancer. There are no known drug interactions or direct therapeutic actions identified for this lncRNA to date. Note: IQCJ-SCHIP1-AS1 should not be confused with the protein-coding readthrough transcript IQCJ-SCHIP1 (sometimes with similar name but distinct function), nor does it encode a receptor or protein itself; it acts as a long non-coding RNA modulator of gene expression.
