IRAG1 antisense RNA 1 (IRAG1-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the region complementary to the IRAG1 gene locus. Its primary function is believed to be the regulation of the protein-coding gene IRAG1 through antisense mechanisms, which may include altering chromatin structure, affecting transcription, stability, or translation of the target mRNA. Antisense RNAs are increasingly recognized as important gene regulators, influencing gene expression at multiple levels and contributing to fine-tuning physiological and pathological processes. While some antisense RNAs have clear disease relevance, IRAG1-AS1’s clinical relevance is not yet defined[2][4].
