ISCOMATRIX is a saponin-based immune adjuvant comprised of saponin, phospholipid, and cholesterol, forming cage-like structures known as ISCOMs (immune stimulating complexes). It acts by facilitating the delivery of co-administered antigens and boosting immune responses through enhancement of antigen uptake, cross-presentation by dendritic cells, and activation of both innate and adaptive immune effectors. ISCOMATRIX has been used in cancer vaccine development and for infectious disease vaccine studies to achieve stronger and broader immune activation, including robust T cell and antibody responses. It is not itself a molecular target for drugs, but a formulation component for improving vaccine efficacy.
Facilitates antigen uptake and presentation by dendritic cells; Induces activation of innate immune cells (e.g., NK cells, NKT cells); Promotes CTL (cytotoxic T lymphocyte) and antibody responses; Skews toward Th1-type immune responses
