Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Receptor (Amylin Receptor)

Target
Amylin Receptor
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor
01

Overview

The islet amyloid polypeptide receptor, also known as the amylin receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor complex that mediates the physiological and pathological effects of islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP), also known as amylin. It consists of a calcitonin receptor (CTR) core protein complexed with one of several possible Receptor Activity-Modifying Proteins (RAMPs). The amylin receptor plays key roles in metabolic regulation and has been implicated in both type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
