Overview

Isochorismatase domain-containing protein 2 (ISOC2) is a protein-coding gene that belongs to the isochorismatase hydrolase family and contains a conserved isochorismatase domain. ISOC2 is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues, with particularly high expression in the uterus, stomach, and urinary tract in mice. The protein is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus. ISOC2 is able to interact and co-localize with the tumor suppressor p16(INK4a), and overexpressed ISOC2 can inhibit p16(INK4a) in a dose-dependent manner, suggesting a possible role in cell proliferation or tumorigenesis. There are no known drugs targeting ISOC2, and its direct therapeutic relevance has not been established in the literature.
