Isopentenyl-diphosphate delta isomerase 2 (IDI2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) to dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP), a key step in the biosynthesis of isoprenoids. This enzyme is involved in the superpathway of cholesterol biosynthesis and plays a role in metabolic pathways related to isoprenoid synthesis. IDI2 is localized to mitochondria and potentially plays distinct roles compared to its paralog, IDI1.
