Overview

The ISY1-RAB43 readthrough represents a naturally occurring read-through transcription event between the adjacent ISY1 (ISY1 splicing factor homolog) and RAB43 (member RAS oncogene family) genes on chromosome 3. This transcript encodes a protein that is identical to the ISY1 gene product at its N-terminus, but diverges at the C-terminus due to a frameshift relative to the RAB43 gene. It is classified as a protein-coding gene involved in general RNA metabolism and mRNA splicing pathways. This entity does not represent a standalone, well-characterized protein; rather, it is a byproduct of transcriptional readthrough between two adjacent genes. Most functional roles, disease associations, and pathway assignments belong to the parent ISY1 or RAB43 gene products, not to the fusion product. There is no established evidence to suggest that ISY1-RAB43 functions as a canonical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), nor is there clear functional specificity, disease association, or known drug interactions identified for this readthrough protein. No known drugs, biomarkers, or clinical relevance are recorded for ISY1-RAB43. Notably, ISY1-RAB43 is primarily a fusion transcript without unique established biological or pharmacological significance as an independent therapeutic target[1][2][4][5][10].
