Overview

ITCH intronic transcript 1 (ITCH-IT1) is a non-coding RNA transcript derived from the intronic regions of the ITCH gene, likely classified as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)[1][2]. Non-coding transcripts from the ITCH locus may regulate expression of the ITCH gene itself or act through competing endogenous RNA mechanisms (e.g., miRNA sponging), especially in the context of related circRNAs (e.g., circ-ITCH)[2][6]. Although non-coding RNAs from the ITCH locus (notably circ-ITCH) have documented relevance in cancer and immune signaling, ITCH-IT1 itself is not presently recognized as a therapeutic target, druggable protein, or validated biomarker[1][2][3][6]. Its biological functions remain largely uncharacterized, though, by analogy to other intronic non-coding RNAs, it may have regulatory or epigenetic effects[3][6].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable. Mechanistic data relate to gene regulation or miRNA sponging (especially for circ-ITCH) but not to direct pharmacological intervention on ITCH-IT1 itself

03

Biological functions

Possible regulation of ITCH gene expression (parental gene regulation, ceRNA/miRNA sponge mechanism in the case of circ-ITCH)Potential epigenetic modulation or host gene regulation typical of intronic lncRNAs
