ITPK1 antisense RNA 1 (ITPK1-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene located on chromosome 14. It does not encode a protein but regulates gene expression at the RNA level, functioning primarily through post-transcriptional interactions with microRNAs as a competing endogenous RNA, thereby influencing cellular processes such as inflammation, cell proliferation, and signaling pathways. ITPK1-AS1 has been implicated as a biomarker and putative regulatory element in disorders associated with inflammation and acute ischemic stroke and may be part of disease-related signaling networks (e.g., PI3K/Akt, JAK/STAT). However, no approved drugs directly target ITPK1-AS1, and its precise molecular mechanism remains an active area of research.
