Overview

ITPR2 antisense RNA 2 (ITPR2-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the ITPR2 gene. It is not a canonical therapeutic drug target, but instead acts as a gene regulatory RNA. Evidence suggests it can regulate the expression of the ITPR2 gene, possibly through mechanisms like competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) activity, interacting with microRNAs or other gene-regulatory machinery. ITPR2-AS2 has been implicated in the regulation of ITPR2 expression in the context of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, but it is not known to be directly involved in signal transduction, cell surface receptor activity, or enzymatic function typical of established drug targets. There are currently no drugs or direct therapeutic interventions targeting ITPR2-AS2, and it is not in use as a disease biomarker. Summary: ITPR2-AS2 is not a traditional drug target but is a regulatory non-coding RNA whose primary biological relevance is indirect, via modulation of the ITPR2 gene and possibly affecting disease pathways in neurodegeneration. Most structured drug and therapeutic target information is not applicable.
