ITPRID2 divergent transcript (ITPRID2-DT) is a long non-coding RNA found on the human genome that originates from the promoter region of the protein-coding ITPRID2 gene. It is classified as a bidirectionally transcribed lncRNA (sometimes called a promoter-divergent transcript). ITPRID2-DT does not encode a protein and is not known to have canonical enzyme, receptor, transporter, or other typical "target" functions. Research on transcription termination mechanisms highlights ITPRID2-DT as a representative locus for studies on proteins that restrict extragenic, non-coding transcription, such as the ZC3H4 complex; ZC3H4 controls early termination of such lncRNAs, preventing their excessive elongation and accumulation[2][5][7][1][3]. There is no evidence supporting a direct connection to diseases or therapeutic relevance at present.
