Janus kinase and microtubule-interacting protein 1 (JAKMIP1) is a cytoplasmic protein highly expressed in neural and lymphoid tissues, where it acts as a scaffold/adaptor protein. JAKMIP1 associates with microtubules and plays a major role in microtubule-dependent transport, especially of the GABA-B receptor complex; it is also implicated in RNA binding and cognition. The protein can interact with Janus kinase family members such as JAK1 and TYK2, potentially modulating Jak/STAT cytokine signaling pathways. JAKMIP1 contains extensive coiled-coil domains mediating dimerization and cellular localization to the microtubule cytoskeleton. It is primarily associated with neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders including autism and epilepsy, but is not an established therapeutic target and there are no known drugs that directly modulate its function[1][2][3][6].
