Overview
The envelope (E) protein of the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a structural glycoprotein critical for viral infectivity, pathogenesis, and immune recognition. It mediates viral attachment to host cells and fusion of the viral and cellular membranes, enabling entry into host cells. The E protein is also the principal target for neutralizing antibodies generated during infection or vaccination.
