The Jerky protein homolog-like (JRKL) is a poorly characterized, ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein in humans. It shares sequence similarity with the better-studied Jerky (JRK) family of DNA-binding proteins and may act as a nuclear regulatory factor. No clear function has been defined, although homology to DNA-binding proteins is noted, and it is not a validated therapeutic target. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants, but little is known about disease or therapeutic relevance. Evidence links JRKL to some disease associations by gene mapping, but as of now, there is no concrete molecular or clinical role established
