Target
JMJD1C-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Other (RNA gene)

Overview

JMJD1C antisense RNA 1 (JMJD1C-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the DNA strand antisense to the protein-coding JMJD1C locus. This RNA does not encode a protein and is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target. There is currently no published evidence establishing JMJD1C-AS1 as a therapeutic target or providing clear details about its molecular function, involvement in human disease, interaction with drugs, or role as a biomarker. Most available scientific and clinical research focuses on the JMJD1C protein rather than this antisense RNA. JMJD1C-AS1 is not the same as JMJD1C; the former is a lncRNA, while the latter is a protein-coding gene frequently implicated in leukemia and epigenetic regulation. There is currently no evidence that JMJD1C-AS1 has recognized therapeutic utility or clear biological/disease function (as of 2024). Mention of JMJD1C-AS1 is limited to genomic annotation resources, with no definitive literature linking it to clinical targets or disease pathways.
