Target intelligence / Profile preview
Juxtaposed with another zinc finger protein 1 (JAZF1) is a nuclear protein featuring three C2H2-type zinc fingers and functions as a transcriptional repressor[1][5]. JAZF1 is mainly localized in the nucleus, acts as a corepressor for orphan nuclear receptors such as NR2C2, and is involved in transcriptional regulation, lipid metabolism, glucose homeostasis, and cell survival[2][5]. Chromosomal rearrangements involving JAZF1 are strongly associated with endometrial stromal tumors and endometrial stromal sarcoma[1][5]. JAZF1 expression influences cell survival, proliferation, and apoptosis, particularly in the human endometrium, where it is essential for decidualization homeostasis and pregnancy maintenance; loss of JAZF1 can lead to increased apoptosis and impaired cellular differentiation[2]. Variants in the JAZF1 gene are associated with increased risks for several diseases, such as prostate cancer, type 2 diabetes, height variation, and rare bone cysts[1][5]. No direct drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarkers specific for JAZF1 targeting are currently reported in the literature.
