Kallikrein-1 (KLK1)

Target
KLK1
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Serine Protease, Peptidase S1 family
01

Overview

Kallikrein-1 (KLK1), also known as tissue kallikrein, is a serine protease enzyme that releases vasoactive peptides, particularly Lys-bradykinin, from low molecular weight kininogen. It plays roles in vasodilation, blood pressure control, and inflammation, and has been implicated in diseases like diabetic nephropathy and cancer.
