The kallikrein–kinin system (KKS), also known as the kinin–kallikrein system, is a complex hormonal and enzymatic cascade in the body that plays critical roles in inflammation, blood pressure regulation, coagulation, pain signaling, and vascular permeability. It consists of several proteins and enzymes that interact to generate biologically active peptides called kinins.
