Overview

KAT7 pseudogene 1 is a processed pseudogene located on the X chromosome (Xq21.33), annotated as KAT7P1. Unlike the protein-coding KAT7 gene—which encodes a histone acetyltransferase involved in chromatin regulation and cell cycle control—KAT7P1 is classified as a pseudogene and is not translated into a functional protein, nor does it have known biological function or disease association. It is not regarded as a therapeutic target and is only of genomic interest as a non-coding remnant of the ancestral KAT7 gene. KAT7P1 should not be confused with the functional KAT7 gene or its protein product, which is a histone acetyltransferase enzyme implicated in transcriptional regulation and DNA replication. KAT7P1 is a non-coding pseudogene, not a functional molecule, enzyme, or receptor. It has no role as a drug target, biomarker, or disease gene, and is not relevant for therapeutic intervention. No drugs, mechanisms, or safety considerations are associated with KAT7P1.
