Overview

KCNAB1 antisense RNA 2 (KCNAB1-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the KCNAB1 gene. It does not encode a protein but may play a role in the regulation of the KCNAB1 gene, which encodes a regulatory beta subunit of voltage-gated potassium channels. Antisense lncRNAs such as KCNAB1-AS2 are involved in diverse mechanisms of gene regulation at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels, often through modulation of chromatin structure, recruitment of transcriptional machinery, and interaction with the sense transcript. The specific biological function, disease relevance, and druggability of KCNAB1-AS2 remain largely uncharacterized, and there is currently no evidence to support its role as a validated therapeutic target or its involvement in disease states as a biomarker or through direct pharmacological modulation[5][4][2].
