Target intelligence / Profile preview
KCNC4 antisense RNA 1 (KCNC4-AS1, also known as KCNC4 divergent transcript or LINC02586) is a long non-coding RNA located adjacent to the KCNC4 gene locus. As an antisense transcript, KCNC4-AS1 is transcribed from the strand opposite to the protein-coding KCNC4 gene and may participate in the regulation of KCNC4 expression, either through RNA-mediated epigenetic mechanisms, chromatin remodeling, or direct interactions with the sense transcript. While the precise function of KCNC4-AS1 is still largely uncharacterized, long non-coding RNAs of this type generally modulate chromatin states, transcriptional regulation, or mRNA processing of neighboring or overlapping genes[4]. There is currently no evidence positioning KCNC4-AS1 as a direct therapeutic target, receptor, or participant in major disease signaling pathways; nor is it referenced in biomarker, druggable, or safety concern databases. Antisense lncRNAs such as KCNC4-AS1 often regulate the expression of their cognate sense genes (in this case, KCNC4, a voltage-gated potassium channel)[4]. General mechanisms for lncRNA action include recruitment of epigenetic regulators, acting as molecular scaffolds, or titrating miRNAs, but individual lncRNA functions require experimental validation[4][2]. No direct involvement of KCNC4-AS1 in disease, drug interaction, or established biomarker use is currently documented in major scientific databases or reviews.
