KCNIP1 antisense RNA 2 (KCNIP1-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA gene annotated in the human genome[5]. Unlike the closely related KCNIP1 gene, which encodes a protein involved in regulation of potassium channel function, KCNIP1-AS2 does not code for a protein and is not a known receptor, channel, enzyme, or other classical molecular target. There is currently no published literature describing its biological function, disease association, or potential as a therapeutic target. Its designation as an "antisense" RNA suggests it may act in regulating expression of the KCNIP1 gene, but this function has not been experimentally verified in public references.
