Overview

KCNIP2 Antisense RNA 1 (KCNIP2-AS1) is a non-coding RNA gene identified as being antisense to the KCNIP2 gene (which encodes Kv channel-interacting protein 2)[5]. Antisense RNAs such as KCNIP2-AS1 can regulate gene expression—typically of their sense counterparts—through mechanisms such as RNA-RNA interaction, chromatin remodeling, or transcriptional interference. There is currently no evidence that KCNIP2-AS1 acts as a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, ion channel, or transporter, nor is it known to directly interact with or be modulated by any drugs. The functional role and clinical relevance of this antisense transcript remain unclear or uncharacterized, and it should not be considered a canonical therapeutic target.
