Overview
KCNJ2 antisense RNA 1 (KCNJ2-AS1) is a long noncoding antisense RNA transcribed from the genomic region overlapping or adjacent to the KCNJ2 potassium channel gene. As an antisense lncRNA, KCNJ2-AS1 may regulate the expression of KCNJ2 and potentially other genes by modifying chromatin structure, influencing transcription, or affecting post-transcriptional processing. The exact function of KCNJ2-AS1 remains unclear, as public gene databases currently list its involvement mainly in gene regulation rather than direct participation in canonical protein-coding pathways. While antisense lncRNAs have established roles in cancer biology and epigenetic control, direct disease associations and drug interactions for KCNJ2-AS1 specifically are not well documented in the current literature.
