KCNMB2 antisense RNA 1 (KCNMB2-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the KCNMB2 gene, mapped to chromosome 10, and known by the alias RP11-385J1.2[2][3][7]. It is not protein-coding but acts as a regulator at the RNA level. KCNMB2-AS1 is frequently upregulated in several cancers, including non–small-cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and esophageal cancer, and experimental data indicate that it acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges specific microRNAs (e.g., miR-374a-3p, miR-3194-3p) to upregulate oncogenic effectors such as ROCK1 and PYGL, thereby promoting proliferation, migration, and invasion, and inhibiting apoptosis of cancer cells[4][6]. KCNMB2-AS1 has been proposed as a candidate biomarker for cancer diagnosis or prognosis, though it is not a direct therapeutic target, and no approved drugs act directly on it. No major safety concerns are reported beyond the general oncogenic risk inherent in modulating cancer-associated lncRNAs[4][6].
