Kelch-like protein 23 (KLHL23) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase substrate adaptor protein encoded by the KLHL23 gene on chromosome 7 and is a member of the Kelch-like family, characterized by a BTB/POZ domain, a BACK domain, and a Kelch repeat domain[2][4]. Proteins in this family participate in substrate recognition for Cullin3-RBX1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes, playing key roles in the ubiquitin-proteasome system for protein homeostasis and degradation[2][1]. KLHL23 regulates diverse cellular processes including cytoskeleton reorganization, cell proliferation, and apoptosis, likely through targeting specific proteins such as actin for ubiquitination and degradation[2][5].
