Overview

Keratin, type I cuticular Ha3-II (KRT33B) is a member of the type I hair keratin gene family and encodes a structural protein that forms acidic intermediate filaments with type II keratins in hair and nails. The protein is expressed primarily in hair follicles and contributes to the structural integrity and resilience of hair shafts by forming heterodimers with type II keratins. Mutations or dysregulation of KRT33B may be associated with various hair and skin disorders. There are no known drugs directly targeting this protein, and it is not considered a therapeutic target but rather a structural component of epithelial cells
