Keratin 17 pseudogene 3 (KRT17P3) is a processed pseudogene related to the keratin 17 (KRT17) gene, which codes for a cytoskeletal protein important in the structure of skin, hair, and nails[4][1]. Unlike KRT17, KRT17P3 does not encode a functional protein but may act as a regulatory non-coding RNA. Recent research suggests that KRT17P3 might regulate gene networks involved in cancer, specifically contributing to cisplatin resistance in non-small cell lung cancer via interaction with the miR-497-5p/mTOR pathway[5]. KRT17P3 is therefore of research interest for its possible regulatory role in tumor biology, but it is not a conventional therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or structural protein[5][8]. There are no established drugs targeting KRT17P3, and it is not currently used as a biomarker.
