Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 18 pseudogene 28 (KRT18P28) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome. It is named as part of the consensus nomenclature for keratin pseudogenes, where it is identified as one of many copies related to the functional Keratin 18 gene (KRT18). Unlike functional keratin genes, KRT18P28 does not code for an active protein product and is thought to be nonfunctional. These keratin pseudogenes are common and are remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events. KRT18P28 does not play a known role in diseases, cell signaling, or as a drug target.
