Keratin 18 pseudogene 3 (KRT18P3) is a processed pseudogene related to the keratin 18 gene (KRT18), which encodes a type I intermediate filament protein expressed in epithelial cells. Pseudogenes like KRT18P3 resemble functional genes at the DNA sequence level but are typically non-coding and considered nonfunctional, as they lack the ability to produce a functional protein product. KRT18P3 does not have an intact open reading frame and is not implicated in any known biological pathways or diseases. It is not utilized as a drug target, diagnostic, or prognostic marker, and has no known interacting drugs or therapeutic relevance. Its presence in the genome is a result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and it is classified solely as a pseudogene[4].
