Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 18 pseudogene 57 (KRT18P57) is a non-coding pseudogene in the human genome that is related by sequence homology to the protein-coding keratin 18 (KRT18) gene. Unlike its parent gene, which encodes a type I intermediate filament protein with roles in cytoskeletal organization of epithelial cells and is an established biomarker in cancer and cell death, KRT18P57 does not encode a functional protein and is not involved in any known biological, pathological, or pharmacological processes. Pseudogenes such as KRT18P57 comprise non-functional genomic sequences resembling functional genes but lack protein-coding capability due to mutations or truncations. There is no evidence in public data sources that "KRT18P57" is expressed, translated, or involved in any disease or biological process.
