Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 8 pseudogenes are noncoding genomic sequences related to the keratin 8 (KRT8) gene, which encode no functional protein products. Keratin 8 pseudogenes exist as processed and unprocessed copies dispersed across the genome and do not play a direct role in physiology or disease. The functional KRT8 gene encodes a type II intermediate filament protein, essential in epithelial cell structure, but pseudogenes like ENSG00000249766 lack protein-coding potential and are not relevant as therapeutic drug targets[6][7].
