Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 8 pseudogene 28 (KRT8P28) is classified as a *processed pseudogene* derived from the keratin 8 (KRT8) gene, which belongs to the intermediate filament protein family[5]. Pseudogenes like KRT8P28 do not encode functional proteins due to accumulated mutations or lack of regulatory sequences[5]. There are over 60 processed pseudogenes for type II keratin 8 scattered throughout the human genome, none of which, including KRT8P28, have intact open reading frames or encode functional proteins[5]. KRT8P28 does not serve as a therapeutic target, has no known physiological or pathological function, and is not implicated in disease or drug response.
