Keratin 8 pseudogene 30 (KRT8P30) is one of many processed pseudogenes derived from the keratin 8 gene (KRT8), which is a type II keratin involved in forming intermediate filaments in epithelial cells[3][5]. Pseudogenes like KRT8P30 are nonfunctional genomic DNA sequences similar to functional genes but lack protein-coding capability due to mutations, truncations, or processing events[5][7]. The human genome contains at least 61 processed pseudogenes for KRT8; KRT8P30 is one of these and does not encode a functional keratin protein nor participate in cellular or disease processes as a receptor, enzyme, or drug target[3][5]. This molecule is not classified as a therapeutic target, and there is no evidence of it being relevant for drug interaction, biomarker use, or disease association. Its only significance is as part of the expanded keratin gene family where it serves as a record of gene evolution and duplication events[5][7].
